Cleveland Guardians shortstop Brayan Rocchio has developed into a reliable postseason performer ahead of Game 2 in the American League Division Series. Originally signed out of Venezuela for $125,000 in 2017, Rocchio earned the moniker "The Professor" from scouts due to his high baseball IQ, contact skills, and natural confidence.
Rocchio credited a championship run with Tiburones de La Guaira in Venezuelan winter ball before the 2024 season with teaching him to thrive in high-pressure moments. Guardians manager Stephen Vogt praised Rocchio's ability to consistently step up when the game is on the line.
