Detroit Tigers rookie infielder Kevin McGonigle was named the top rookie in Major League Baseball by Bleacher Report's Joel Reuter following the 2026 season. McGonigle posted a 7.1 WAR across 156 games while batting .278 with 18 home runs and strong defense across multiple infield positions. The standout campaign positions him as a leading contender for the American League Rookie of the Year award.
McGonigle also finished as the top rookie in rankings from Baseball America after signing a nine-year, $140 million extension before the season. His debut campaign provided a major bright spot for Detroit, who missed the playoffs after finishing fourth in the AL Central with a 76-86 record.
