New Tarik Skubal trade details lays out Brewers’ push and Tigers’ last-minute pivot

Details reported by Andy McCullough of The Athletic reveal the Milwaukee Brewers made a significant trade push for Detroit Tigers pitcher Tarik Skubal before the deadline. Milwaukee offered top prospects Luis Peña, Josh Adamczewski, and Jett Williams while holding back pitcher Logan Henderson. Tigers president Scott Harris ultimately pivoted to the Los Angeles Dodgers, trading Skubal for outfielder Zyhir Hope and pitchers River Ryan and Brady Smith.

Motor City Bengals notes Detroit preferred the Dodgers' pitching-heavy package over Milwaukee's position player offer. Milwaukee Brewers general manager Matt Arnold praised Harris for transparent communication regarding the decision. Despite missing out on Skubal, Milwaukee went on to win the World Series, while Skubal pitched only 11 postseason innings before the Dodgers were swept.
