Edgardo Henriquez Sets Dodgers Velocity Record Against Tigers

Edgardo Henriquez made Los Angeles Dodgers history by throwing a 103.6 mph strikeout pitch against the Detroit Tigers, matching his own Statcast era franchise record.

Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Edgardo Henriquez made franchise history by throwing a 103.6 mph strikeout pitch against the Detroit Tigers. The heat tied his own Statcast record set earlier this season as the 24-year-old continues dominating out of the Los Angeles bullpen.

The 24-year-old right-handed pitcher reached 103.6 mph to notch the historic strikeout against Detroit. That 103.6 mph throw officially matched his own previous organizational velocity record set earlier in the 2026 season on June 2 against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Pure heat defines his approach. Henriquez now holds 22 of the fastest pitches ever recorded by a Dodgers player under Statcast tracking dating back to 2008. Furthermore, he commands 14 of the top 16 spots specifically for fastest strikeout pitches in franchise history. Opposing hitters simply cannot keep up with his raw power out of the bullpen.

In 55 appearances this season, Henriquez has logged 55.1 innings while going 4-1 with a 2.77 ERA and 63 strikeouts. He has posted a sterling 0.98 WHIP and limited opposing hitters to a .164 batting average.

Henriquez relies heavily on a hard-throwing repertoire, averaging 100.6 mph on his primary fastballs. His 2026 pitch utilization features a four-seam fastball (33.1%), a sinker (25.5%), a slider (22.4%), a cutter (14.3%), and a curveball (4.8%). This pitch combination has generated an impressive 25.1% strikeout rate while limiting opposing lineups to a 2.4% barrel percentage and a 26.2% hard-hit percentage.

Through 80 career regular-season appearances since his MLB debut on September 24, 2024, Henriquez holds a 6-2 record, a 2.67 ERA, and 86 strikeouts over 77.2 total innings pitched. With Los Angeles officially postponing Shohei Ohtani’s pitching return and starter Blake Snell anchoring the rotation against Detroit, Henriquez continues to provide crucial late-inning firepower for the Dodgers relief corps.
