The Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters have reportedly agreed to a four-year contract extension with slugger Franmil Reyes worth up to $40 million. The deal covers the 2027 through 2030 seasons and will make the 31-year-old designated hitter the highest-paid player in Nippon Professional Baseball history.
After struggling in MLB across 2022 and 2023, Reyes revitalized his career in Japan, batting .294 with 89 home runs over three seasons from 2024 to 2026. His offensive contributions helped guide the Fighters to three straight appearances in the Climax Series final stage.
