The Houston Astros were eliminated from the postseason after losing 7-3 to the Chicago White Sox in the American League Wild Card Series. The defeat at Daikin Park completed a 2-0 series sweep for Chicago. Houston starter Hunter Brown struggled early, allowing four runs and recording only two outs in the first inning.
Houston mounted a comeback attempt with solo home runs from Jeremy Pena, Cam Smith, and Jose Altuve, bringing the score to 4-3. However, Chicago's Chase Meidroth sealed the win in the sixth inning with a decisive three-run home run off Bryan Abreu.
