The Houston Astros are facing an important offseason, and one MLB analyst believes the organization could make a surprising decision involving one of its biggest stars.Shortstop Jeremy Peña has been a fixture in Houston’s lineup since his breakout rookie campaign…

CBS Sports analyst Mike Axisa predicts the Houston Astros will trade shortstop and former World Series MVP Jeremy Peña this offseason. With Peña scheduled to enter free agency after the 2027 season and Houston managing a crowded infield that includes Carlos Correa, Jose Altuve, and Isaac Paredes, Axisa suggests the franchise could move Peña rather than risk losing him without return assets.
The prediction follows Houston exercising Paredes' $13.35 million club option for 2027. Peña, 29, batted .277 with 22 home runs and 56 RBIs in 112 games during the 2026 season, presenting an opportunity for general manager Randy Flores to address roster needs such as the pitching staff via a permanent trade.
