The Houston Astros' search for a new general manager appears to be narrowing in focus, with Matt Kleine emerging as a top candidate.

The Houston Astros are reportedly considering Milwaukee Brewers assistant general manager Matt Kleine to fill their vacant general manager position. According to a report from USA Today's Bob Nightengale, Houston is looking closely at Kleine following the firing of previous GM Dana Brown, though no final hiring decision has been made yet.
Kleine joined the Brewers organisation in 2007 as a scouting executive and was elevated to assistant general manager in 2023. Writer Eric Cole highlights Milwaukee's strong track record in drafting and player development, but notes that owner Jim Crane's demanding leadership style could present challenges for any incoming executive.
