In a rare relief appearance, Michael King was clutch to save the Padres and keep their playoff run going.

San Diego Padres starting pitcher Michael King pitched two scoreless innings of relief to secure a 4-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in NLDS Game 3. King, who threw 72 pitches as the Game 2 starter just two days earlier, stepped up to earn the save after high-leverage relievers Mason Miller and Adrian Morejon were ruled out. The victory keeps San Diego alive and forces a Game 4 at Petco Park.
Manager Craig Stammen called upon King in the eighth inning after deploying Jason Adam, Bradgley Rodriguez, and Yuki Matsui. Despite walking two batters in the ninth, King induced a game-ending double play from Christian Yelich to escape the jam. Pitching coach Ruben Niebla indicated that both Miller and Morejon are expected to be available for Wednesday's contest.
