Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Junior Caminero appeared to suffer an injury to his left shoulder or arm during Game 1 of the ALCS. Caminero collided with teammate Jonny DeLuca in foul territory during the top of the ninth inning while chasing a foul ball. Manager Kevin Cash and a team trainer checked on him, but Caminero ultimately remained in the game.
Billy Heyen notes that while the injury may not impact Caminero defensively as a right-handed thrower, his left shoulder is critical for his swing mechanics at the plate. Caminero hit 42 home runs with 101 RBIs in the regular season.
