The Story in 60 Seconds

Writer Cullen Jekel reviewed relief pitcher Nate Pearson's 2026 season with the Kansas City Royals after being acquired via trade from the Houston Astros in July. Pearson initially excelled in his first 20 outings for Kansas City, compiling a 0.43 ERA and 20 strikeouts across 21 innings. However, his performance plummeted over his final six appearances, recording a 21.60 ERA.

Jekel argues the Royals should consider retaining Pearson for the 2027 season despite his late-season struggles. Pearson is arbitration-eligible for one more season and due for a raise from the $1.35 million deal he signed prior to the campaign.
