The Los Angeles Angels have two players who could be building blocks or trade chips for new ones, but they need to decide before it is too late.

Brian Burrows of Halo Hangout argues that incoming Los Angeles Angels owner Stan Kroenke must immediately resolve the futures of key players Zach Neto and Reid Detmers. With Kroenke Sports Entertainment set to assume ownership of the franchise, Burrows contends the front office faces an urgent choice between signing both core players to long-term extensions or trading them for elite prospects to jumpstart a comprehensive rebuild.
Detmers is scheduled to reach free agency following the 2027 season, while Neto will enter the open market after 2028. Because the Angels remain multiple seasons away from true contention, Burrows stresses that the new leadership cannot risk letting either player walk away in free agency without compensation, urging prompt action this offseason to maximize their organizational value.
