New York radio host Sal Licata said he expected Tarik Skubal to sign with the Mets, then explained in the same segment why the Los Angeles Angels could land the left-hander instead.

New York radio host Sal Licata suggested free-agent pitcher Tarik Skubal could land a $450 million deal with the Los Angeles Angels rather than joining the New York Mets. While Licata initially expects Skubal to choose the Mets, he argued that the left-hander might prefer to avoid the intense New York market and instead become the marquee signing for the Angels' prospective new ownership.
Skubal is set to hit free agency after the Los Angeles Dodgers were swept by the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLCS. The 29-year-old starter posted a 5-2 record with a 2.61 ERA in 10 regular-season starts for the Dodgers after being traded from the Detroit Tigers, but he declined to discuss his upcoming free agency following the playoff exit.
