River Ryan: ‘A Lot More Care Involved’ With Tigers Organization

Detroit Tigers pitcher River Ryan praised his new organization's handling of his injury recovery while contrasting it with his time with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ryan was traded alongside Zyhir Hope and Brady Smith to Detroit in exchange for Tarik Skubal while recovering from a hamstring injury. He noted that the Tigers have been much more hands-on and involved in his day-to-day routine compared to his previous experience.

Ryan suffered a hamstring strain in June 2026 while pitching for Triple-A Oklahoma City following a previous recovery from Tommy John surgery. He made his official Tigers debut on Monday, tossing three scoreless innings with three strikeouts against the Washington Nationals.
