Former Twin, Minnesota native involved in Jeff Hoffman trade returns to MLB with Blue Jays

The Toronto Blue Jays have recalled right-handed relief pitcher John Klein ahead of their Wednesday doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards. Klein was acquired by Toronto from the Minnesota Twins on August 3 as part of the Jeff Hoffman trade and had been pitching in the Blue Jays' minor-league system since the deal.

The 24-year-old made his Major League debut earlier this season with Minnesota, posting a 4.15 ERA across 4 1/3 innings in three appearances. Between Triple-A affiliates St. Paul and Buffalo this season, Klein recorded a 6.36 ERA with 95 strikeouts over 86 2/3 innings.
