Ty France nearly hit a go-ahead homer for the Padres in Saturday's loss to the Brewers.

San Diego Padres first baseman Ty France was denied a potential hit after his ninth-inning fly ball struck a roof cable in a 3-2 NLDS Game 1 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday. With one out and a runner on first at American Family Field, France hit a high fly ball that hit the cable and dropped into fair territory, allowing Milwaukee's Jackson Chourio to make the catch.
France, who previously played for the Minnesota Twins and Toronto Blue Jays, criticized the ground rules following the game. The veteran joined San Diego on a minor-league deal before posting a 4.5 bWAR regular season with 21 home runs. Milwaukee preserved the win after Jackson Merrill lined out to end the game.
