Twins could find their next power bat in Astros first baseman Christian Walker

Puckett's Pond suggests the Minnesota Twins should target Houston Astros first baseman Christian Walker to add power to their lineup this offseason. According to The Athletic's Chandler Rome, Houston is expected to include Walker in trade talks following an 81-81 season and front office changes. The 35-year-old hit 29 home runs in 2026 and remains under team control through next season on a $20 million salary.

The writer argues Walker could serve as a valuable short-term addition via trade if Minnesota moves on from struggling infielder Royce Lewis. Walker slashed .226/.299/.427 in 156 games in 2026 while providing solid defense, potentially bridging the gap until prospect Marek Houston is MLB-ready.
