Minnesota Twins prospect Vahn Lackey could wind up being Ryan Jeffers's replacement sooner than fans think.

Puckett's Pond's Chris Schad suggests Minnesota Twins catching prospect Vahn Lackey could reach the majors ahead of schedule if free agent Ryan Jeffers departs this offseason. Jeffers, who is 29 years old, is expected by the author to command between $15 million and $20 million per season, potentially prompting the Twins to rely on veteran Victor Caratini and fast-track Lackey.
Selected third overall in the 2026 draft from Georgia Tech, Lackey advanced to High-A Cedar Rapids in his debut pro campaign. Schad argues that thin organizational depth behind Caratini and Lackey's defensive skills could see the young catcher reach the major league roster as early as next summer.
