MLB will not extend the posting window for Japanese players, leaving Teruaki Sato and others facing a Dec. 1 deadline to sign.

Major League Baseball has established a December 1 deadline for Japanese free agents to sign before a potential league lockout. MLB informed the MLB Players Association and player agents that it will not amend its posting agreement with Nippon Professional Baseball, meaning players must finalize deals by the deadline or become ineligible to sign with an MLB club in 2027.
The decision impacts several notable international talents currently entering the posting system, including Hanshin Tigers infielder Teruaki Sato, Saitama Seibu Lions pitcher Kaima Taira, and Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters pitcher Hiromi Itoh. South Korean infielder Si-Hwan Roh of the Hanwha Eagles is also entering the posting process amid the looming roster freeze.
