John Franco might be one of the most underrated playoff performers in New York Mets history.

Rising Apple's Tim Boyle argues that former relief pitcher John Franco remains one of the most underrated postseason performers in New York Mets history. Despite spending most of his tenure without postseason appearances, Franco capitalized on his limited opportunities across the 1999 and 2000 playoffs, earning two wins, one save, and compiling a 1.88 ERA with a 0.97 WHIP.
Manager Bobby Valentine utilized Franco extensively in 2000, including four World Series appearances where Franco earned the Mets' lone victory against the New York Yankees. Boyle points out that Franco's strong playoff numbers contrast sharply with postseason struggles from other Mets relievers such as Armando Benitez and Billy Wagner.
