Philadelphia Phillies president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski announced that the team has hired former New York Mets manager Carlos Mendoza. Mendoza will serve as the Phillies' new infield and third base coach for the 2027 season under manager Don Mattingly.
Mendoza was dismissed by the Mets during the 2026 season following a 34-47 start, ending a two-and-a-half-year stint highlighted by a 2024 NLCS appearance. The Phillies also changed managers during the season, replacing Rob Thomson with Mattingly before hiring Mendoza as his first major staff addition.
