Tarik Skubal is the best pitcher available, and one New York Mets analyst has moved from interest to prediction.

SNY analyst Connor Rogers predicted that free-agent ace Tarik Skubal will sign with the New York Mets this offseason. Rogers highlighted that only a few teams will actively bid past $400 million, noting the Mets appear fully committed to matching top offers. MLB insider Chelsea Janes reported that if owner Steve Cohen decides to pursue Skubal, New York will pay whatever is necessary.
Skubal enters free agency seeking a permanent deal expected to surpass $400 million, potentially setting a record for a pitcher. While Los Angeles Dodgers president Andrew Friedman praised Skubal's midseason impact, luxury-tax restraints could prevent Los Angeles from meeting his price tag. The Mets aim to rebuild a rotation that finished 23rd in ERA during a 74-88 season.
