The New York Yankees are bringing Aaron Boone back next season, according to NorthJersey.com's Pete Caldera. Boone is going into the final year of his deal and his 10th season as the Yankees manager.
Former New York Yankees outfielder Cameron Maybin expressed on social media that he would love to see Aaron Boone manage the San Diego Padres once Boone's tenure in New York ends. Maybin praised Boone's communication, leadership, and ability to handle intense pressure during his managerial career with the Yankees, having played under him during the 2019 season.
The endorsement comes as Boone is reportedly set to return for his 10th season managing the Yankees, entering the final year of his contract with a 790-565 career regular-season record. Meanwhile, the article notes the Padres are unlikely to make a change soon following a 91-71 season under manager Craig Stammen.
