The Orioles are hiring Jared Banner as their general manager, reports Jeff Passan of ESPN. Banner was most recently an assistant general manager with the Cubs. He’s also worked for the Mets and Red Sox. More to come…
The Baltimore Orioles have officially hired Jared Banner as their new general manager. Banner, who spent the past several years with the Chicago Cubs and served as their assistant general manager since 2023, will oversee player development, coaching, and performance while collaborating with president of baseball operations Mike Elias on staffing and player acquisitions.
The 41-year-old executive brings nearly 20 years of MLB front-office experience, including previous stints with the Boston Red Sox and New York Mets. Banner steps into the role as Baltimore aims to rebound from a 79-82 campaign after missing the postseason for two consecutive years.
