Amid the on-field jubilation after the Brewers won their first-ever World Series title, manager Pat Murphy took a swipe at the Yankees.

Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy criticized the New York Yankees while celebrating on the field with Jake Bauers following Milwaukee's first World Series title. After Bauers handed Murphy the ball from the final out, Murphy told Bauers he would become rich in free agency and referred back to the 2023 Yankees squad that Bauers played for as a selfish and poor team.
Bauers played 85 games for the 2023 Yankees, who finished 82-80 and missed the postseason. Murphy's remarks follow a pattern of outside criticism directed at New York's play and fundamentals, including past comments from Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Joe Kelly after the 2024 World Series.
