What if I told you that a pitcher that was picked up off the scrap heap at the end of the season to provide innings to a staff that could be described as beleaguered at the time and would end…

Ethan Witte of The Good Phight gave pitcher Jose Urquidy a 'B' grade for his late-season contributions to the Philadelphia Phillies in 2026. Claimed off the waiver wire to eat innings for a beleaguered pitching staff, Urquidy posted a 0.4 fWAR across two appearances, including one start, pitching 7 1/3 innings with nine strikeouts and no walks.
Witte highlighted Urquidy's September 18 outing against the New York Mets, where he threw 4 2/3 shutout innings in relief following a rough start by opener Tim Mayza. Although Urquidy struggled in his final scheduled start, Witte praised him for delivering a serviceable, unexpected performance when the team needed arms.
