Right-hander Irwin Ramirez was named Pittsburgh's Rookie-Level Pitcher of the Year after a 2026 campaign that showcased both his considerable upside and the developmental challenges that remain.

Pittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Irwin Ramirez throws around 100 mph but faces serious command issues, according to Emma Lingan. The 19-year-old right-hander was named Pittsburgh's Rookie-Level Pitcher of the Year following his 2026 campaign, but he experienced significant difficulty finding the strike zone after earning a promotion.
Ramirez posted a 3.67 ERA with the Florida Complex League Pirates before advancing to Low-A Bradenton in June. Over 41 1/3 innings with Bradenton, he posted a 6.75 ERA and issued 36 walks alongside 41 strikeouts, highlighting substantial development hurdles.
