The Boston Red Sox are being linked with signing an All-Star infielder, assuming they can offload a key player.

The Boston Red Sox have been linked to potential free-agent second baseman Brandon Lowe as part of a projected offseason roster shakeup. According to reporting from The Athletic's Jen McCaffrey, moving players like Jarren Duran or Trevor Story could create flexibility to pursue Lowe. Lowe, who spent the 2026 season with the Pittsburgh Pirates, is projected by Bleacher Report to secure a three-year free-agent deal worth approximately $75 million.
Signing Lowe would address Boston's unstable second base position, though it could require surrendering a 2027 draft pick if he rejects a qualifying offer. Lowe led all MLB second basemen with 35 home runs and an .824 OPS in 2026. If acquired, his addition could shift Curtis Mead to third base or designated hitter.
