Padres clinch 2026 Postseason berth with 4-2 win over Dodgers

The San Diego Padres clinched a 2026 postseason berth by defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-2 in their series finale. Starter Nick Pivetta delivered 4 2/3 shutout innings, striking out seven batters while allowing four hits. Reliever Yuki Matsui preserved the scoreless tie by stranding two runners in the fifth inning.

San Diego broke Tyler Glasnow's no-hit bid in the sixth inning on an Ethan Salas single, leading to a Dustin Harris sacrifice fly. The Padres added three more runs in the seventh against Glasnow and reliever Justin Wrobleski, courtesy of RBI singles from Austin Hays, Salas, and Fernando Tatis Jr.
