The San Diego Padres avoided postseason elimination with a dramatic 4-3 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers in Game 3 of the NLDS at Petco Park. Jake Cronenworth hit a go-ahead solo home run in the fifth inning off JoJo Romero to help lead the Padres, who now trail the series 2-1.
With regular closer Mason Miller sidelined on the paternity list, Padres ace Michael King entered in relief just two days after starting Game 2. King pitched the final two innings to record the six-out save and preserve the one-run lead.
