The San Diego Padres have declined their $14 million team option for 2027 on veteran right-handed pitcher Nick Pivetta, making him a free agent, according to a source. Pivetta was limited to just eight regular-season starts in 2026 due to an elbow injury that sidelined him for nearly five months, converting his contract's original player option into a club option.
Meanwhile, left-handed reliever Wandy Peralta exercised his $4.45 million player option to return to San Diego for the 2027 season. The Padres have reportedly expressed interest in potentially re-signing Pivetta this offseason as their starting pitching rotation faces multiple vacancies.
