San Francisco Giants Cut Ties with 24-Year-Old Player During Twins Series

The San Francisco Giants have designated 24-year-old left-handed pitcher Philip Abner for assignment. The roster move was announced ahead of the team's series against the Minnesota Twins. Having been eliminated from playoff contention, the Giants are utilizing the final stretch of the season to adjust their roster and evaluate players.

In addition to Abner's designation, the Giants announced several other roster moves. Bo Davidson was selected from Triple-A Sacramento, and infielder Marcelo Mayer was reinstated from the 10-day injured list. Meanwhile, infielder Bryce Eldridge was placed on the 7-day concussion list, and outfielder Jung Hoo Lee was placed on the 10-day injured list with a groin contusion.
