SF Giants infielder Nate Furman did not blow anyone away in 2026, but he still showed promise especially in the minors.

Around the Foghorn writer Nick San Miguel argues that rookie infielder Nate Furman should remain with the San Francisco Giants organization despite an unexceptional major league debut. Furman earned a promotion in early August 2026 amid infield injuries and an impending trade of Luis Arraez, but he managed just four singles across 32 big-league at-bats.
San Miguel notes that Furman batted .293 with Triple-A Sacramento in 2026 and provides valuable contact skills, speed, and defensive reliability at second base. While unlikely to make the 2027 Opening Day roster, the writer expects the 25-year-old infielder to potentially retain a 40-man roster spot as depth.
