The SF Giants did not do much right in 2026, but they did win the home run battle. Unfortunately, that did not help them in the standings, as they had the fourth-worst record in baseball.

Despite finishing with the fourth-worst record in baseball in 2026, the San Francisco Giants posted a positive home run differential. Jeff Young of Around the Foghorn reports that the Giants hit 178 home runs while conceding only 160, finishing ninth in the majors with a plus-18 differential. Only three teams allowed fewer home runs.
Young notes that 2026 proved to be an unusual year for the correlation between home run differentials and winning. World Series participants Milwaukee and Tampa Bay each recorded negative differentials, while six of the 14 teams with positive differentials, including San Francisco, finished with losing records.
