The SF Giants moved Jung Hoo Lee off of center field last offseason. The results were not much better in right field in 2026, and there is more than one reason why they should consider another position change.

Around the Foghorn's Jeff Young argues that the SF Giants should consider moving Jung Hoo Lee to another position after a subpar defensive season in right field. After shifting from center field following the arrival of Harrison Bader, Lee recorded -4 Outs Above Average and -5 Fielding Run Value in 2026, ranking near the bottom among right fielders.
Young notes that improved performance could potentially encourage Lee to exercise his opt-out clause following the 2027 season. Lee is currently on a six-year, $113 million contract, and the writer believes a position change could benefit both the team's outfield defense and contractual flexibility.
