The New York Yankees have chosen to not retain Brian Sabean which opens the door to an obvious reunion with the SF Giants.

Writer Nick San Miguel argues that the San Francisco Giants should pursue a reunion with former general manager Brian Sabean following reports that the New York Yankees will not retain him. According to reporting from Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Yankees decided not to keep Sabean in his role as special assistant to GM Brian Cashman following an early playoff exit in 2026.
San Miguel suggests that Sabean would naturally fit alongside Buster Posey's advisory group, which already features franchise figures Dusty Baker and Bruce Bochy. Sabean previously led the Giants' baseball operations from 1997 to 2014, securing four World Series appearances and three titles before departing the organization entirely in 2023.
