The Story in 60 Seconds

The Seattle Mariners officially introduced 36-year-old Jason Kanzler as their new manager during a press conference at T-Mobile Park on Wednesday. Kanzler, who will wear jersey No. 18, takes on his first managerial role at any level after serving as the Chicago Cubs' farm director for three seasons. Mariners president of baseball operations Jerry Dipoto and general manager Justin Hollander selected him over finalists including former Houston Astros manager Joe Espada.

Kanzler's non-traditional background includes working as a high school physics and chemistry teacher before serving as a minor league coach and MLB hitting coach for Houston.
