The St. Louis Cardinals have assigned prospects to the Arizona Fall League to play for the Peoria Javelinas alongside players from four other organizations. The assigned contingent includes position players Tai Peete, Sammy Hernandez, and Cade McGee, as well as pitchers Tekoah Roby, Nate Dohm, Michael Watson, Frank Ellisalt, Joseph King, and Nolan Sparks. The league opens play on October 3 and runs through mid-November.
The assignments aim to provide additional development time, replenish lost in-season innings from injury, or address upcoming Rule 5 roster decisions. Pitcher Brandon Clarke was initially slated to participate before undergoing minor surgery that ruled him out. The Cardinals' participants will share the Peoria roster with prospects from the Baltimore Orioles, Cincinnati Reds, San Diego Padres, and Seattle Mariners.
