CLEVELAND -- Starting pitcher Nick Martinez passed the baton to Drew Rasmussen. Now, it's up to Freddy Peralta to finish the job and take the Tampa Bay Rays to the World Series.
Freddy Peralta is scheduled to start for the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday in Game 6 of the American League Championship Series against the Cleveland Guardians. Tampa Bay holds a 3-2 series lead after securing two consecutive road victories. A win would send the Rays to the World Series to face the National League champion Milwaukee Brewers.
The Guardians face pitching limitations for the elimination game, with ace Gavin Williams unavailable and Joey Cantillo expected to handle bulk relief innings. Peralta has delivered 6 2/3 scoreless innings across two previous appearances in the series, while Cleveland scored only two runs across Games 4 and 5.
