The Tampa Bay Rays haven’t won a World Series since they came into existence in 1998. That might sound like a long time, and it is … until you remember that the Cleveland Guardians haven’t won it all since 1948…

The Cleveland Guardians and Tampa Bay Rays will begin the best-of-seven American League Championship Series on Monday night at Tropicana Field. The top-seeded Rays advanced to the ALCS after sweeping the New York Yankees in the ALDS, while the Guardians rallied from a 2-0 deficit to eliminate the Chicago White Sox in five games.
Drew Rasmussen is expected to start Game 1 for Tampa Bay on extra rest following an eight-inning near-no-hitter against New York. Cleveland manager Stephen Vogt has yet to announce an official Game 1 starter, with Tanner Bibee, Joey Cantillo, Daniel Espino, and Foster Griffin serving as potential options.
