Rays Announce Two-Time All-Star Not Available For ALDS

Tampa Bay Rays manager Kevin Cash announced that two-time All-Star starting pitcher Shane McClanahan will not be available for the American League Division Series due to forearm tightness. Cash indicated that McClanahan could potentially return for later postseason rounds, though likely in a relief role. The Rays secured the top seed in the American League along with a first-round bye.

McClanahan last pitched on Sept. 3, posting a 3.36 ERA across 24 starts during the regular season. In his absence for the ALDS, Tampa Bay will rely on a starting rotation featuring Freddy Peralta, Drew Rasmussen, and Nick Martinez. The Rays will face either the Boston Red Sox or the New York Yankees.
