A mock Jacob deGrom trade to the Detroit Tigers could make sense for the Texas Rangers and land the club so much-needed young talent for the aging ace.
Bleacher Report has proposed a potential winter trade sending Texas Rangers ace Jacob deGrom to the Detroit Tigers. The proposal suggests Detroit could target the two-time Cy Young Award winner to help replace Tarik Skubal. Writer Jeff Speicher notes that deGrom is entering his age-38 season, is owed $37 million in 2027 with a club option for 2028, and holds a full no-trade clause.
Speicher argues that Texas should consider moving deGrom to retool with younger talent rather than maintaining an aging, expensive roster. He suggests the Rangers should target Tigers players such as infielder Colt Keith, top outfield prospect Zyhir Hope, or pitcher Jackson Jobe, provided deGrom is willing to waive his no-trade protection.
