Nathan Eovaldi’s Rangers Role Takes New Shape With 6 Games Left

Texas Rangers manager Skip Schumaker announced Tuesday that pitcher Nathan Eovaldi will pitch in winning games during the final six games of the regular season. Schumaker declined to commit to a specific role, noting Eovaldi could be utilized as a starter, an opener, or in relief depending on game situations.

Eovaldi was activated from the 15-day injured list on September 12 following right posterior elbow inflammation. The right-hander has since made two relief appearances, including earning a win against the Boston Red Sox on September 16 with four scoreless innings.
