The Texas Rangers could enter this offseason facing decisions involving some of their biggest names. Since winning the 2023 World Series, Texas has missed October for 3 consecutive seasons. Now, payroll concerns have brought 3 big names into trade discussions.…

The Texas Rangers are reportedly exploring trade possibilities for high-earning veterans Corey Seager, Jacob deGrom, and Nathan Eovaldi to manage payroll ahead of the 2027 season. Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reported that Texas will seek trade partners as the trio accounts for $92.5 million of the payroll. However, potential moves face major hurdles due to contract protections, as Seager holds 10-and-5 rights while deGrom and Eovaldi possess full no-trade clauses.
General manager Chris Young seeks financial flexibility to address other roster needs, particularly at catcher and in the bullpen. Ahead of the 2026 trade deadline, deGrom previously exercised his no-trade clause to block a proposed deal with Atlanta. If the Rangers free up salary, potential offseason free-agent targets could include catcher Carson Kelly and left-handed reliever Sean Newcomb as cost-effective alternatives.
