If the Texas Rangers want to avoid losing draft compensation, several attractive free agents who didn't receive a qualifying offer could be realistic targets for Texas.

Writer Jackson Kruse argues the Texas Rangers should target free agents without qualifying offers to avoid sacrificing draft pick compensation. Potential targets Ryan Jeffers and Adrian Morejon received qualifying offers, making them expensive additions given general manager Ross Fenstermaker's goal to rebuild the farm system.
As alternatives, Kruse suggests the Rangers target 32-year-old catcher Carson Kelly and 33-year-old left-handed reliever Sean Newcomb. Kelly is projected for a two-year, $17 million deal, while Newcomb could secure an estimated two-year, $14 million contract.
