Former Toronto Blue Jays left-handed pitcher Matt Boyd has officially elected free agency after completing the 2026 season with the Chicago Cubs. Boyd will be eligible to sign with any Major League Baseball club this winter as an unrestricted free agent. During the 2026 campaign, the veteran starter posted a 10-5 record alongside a 3.91 ERA across 22 starts.
Boyd began his professional career with Toronto after being selected in the sixth round of the 2013 MLB Draft. He made just two appearances for the Blue Jays before being traded to the Detroit Tigers in July 2015 as part of the deal for David Price. Over his 12-season MLB career, Boyd has also pitched for the Seattle Mariners and Cleveland Guardians.
