The 2026 season may be the last of George Springer’s career. If so, what a career it was. Many of his best days were before joining the Toronto Blue Jays, but his signing was the turning point for the team…

George Springer completed his six-year, $150 million contract with the Toronto Blue Jays following a resilient second half of the 2026 season. After fracturing his big toe on April 11 against the Minnesota Twins, Springer struggled early before hitting 13 home runs with a .267/.335/.436 slash line across 402 plate appearances from May 18 through the end of the season.
Springer finished the 2026 campaign with 15 home runs and a 105 wRC+ in 126 games before receiving a standing ovation against the Cincinnati Reds on September 27. Writer Cynthia Ryley Delaney argues that Toronto should consider re-signing Springer if he chooses not to retire.
