The Toronto Blue Jays declined their $8 million contract option on outfielder Myles Straw, leading him to elect free agency on Monday, November 2. The Cleveland Guardians will pay Straw's $1.75 million buyout as part of the original trade terms. While Straw had a strong 2025 campaign, his performance declined during the 2026 season, during which he posted a .646 OPS across 147 games.
In addition to parting with Straw, Toronto activated seven players from the 60-day injured list, including José Berríos and Anthony Santander. The moves brought the Blue Jays' 40-man roster to 37 players, providing flexibility for future free-agent signings and Rule 5 Draft decisions.
