Washington Nationals top pitching prospect Jarlin Susana is heading to the Arizona Fall League with the Salt River Rafters to make up for lost time after lat surgery limited him to 22 1/3 minor league innings this season. The 22-year-old right-hander recently made headlines by throwing a 104 mph fastball for Triple-A Rochester at the Triple-A National Championship in Las Vegas.
Susana aims to refine his strike-zone command and build stamina over the six-week fall campaign. Originally acquired from the San Diego Padres in the 2022 Juan Soto blockbuster, Susana joins other Nationals prospects assigned to the AFL, including outfielders Teo Banks and Jorgelys Mota, catcher Kevin Bazzell, and pitchers Noah Dean, Nolan Hughes, Owen Puk, and R.J. Sales.
