The Nationals have acquired infielder Nate Furman from the Giants, ESPN’s Jeff Passan reports. Minor league left-hander Tony Neubeck is heading to San Francisco in return. More to come…

The Washington Nationals have acquired infielder Nate Furman from the San Francisco Giants in a permanent trade, as first reported by ESPN's Jeff Passan. In exchange, the Giants received minor league left-handed pitcher Tony Neubeck. To accommodate the acquisition on their roster, the Nationals designated left-handed pitcher Richard Lovelady for assignment.
The trade aids the Giants in trimming their 40-man roster, which stood at 49 players ahead of the upcoming deadline to clear players from the 60-day injured list. The Nationals also face roster crunches, holding 45 players on their 40-man roster following Furman's addition.
